Dookie-Green Day
Ahhh good ole Dookie. The album that revived Punk in most areas in the United States and the only full Punk album by Green Day(Minus When I Come Around.). The album tells the story of most teens in the 90's and what they go through. Masturbation in All By Myself and Longview, Resulting to violence in Having A Blast and dealing with Homosexulaity in Coming Clean and Girlfriends in She and When I Come Around. The album received amazing reviews and was heavily sold reaching Platinum multiple times. Releasing 5 singles and #1 of Albums of 1994 and #33 in Albums you must hear before you die. Also was claimed by some musicians the best bass album of all time. The album although favored by most critcs still received heavy critism(Soup) and their follow up album Insomniac was based on letting their anger out at their critics.
The album kicks off with Burnout with an awesome drum line. It is a sampler of what you will be hearing for the next 40 mins and describes Green Day and the album pretty well. The album then goes into Having A Blast a song about well.... death and somewhat insanity in ways. Then Green Day steps it up and jams out into Chump with a fake ending and then an amazing Guitar riff. Chump then connects into Longview. Mike steps forward and shows off his bass skills and man is it awesome. Guitar is only used on the chorus. The lyrics touched many teens at the time it came out of Masturbation,Boredom, and lacking of sex; and shot Green Day to fame. The album continues with it's reaching out to teens of the era with Welcome To Paradise a song about leaving home and your parents. Also has a bass solo in the middle of the song. Pulling Teeth another great song and one of my favorites. Has some great lyrics and a pretty good guitar and bass line. Basket Case a song about insanity and lack of sex. A single off the song and another song that shot Green Day to the top. She the song talks about troubled couples and has a very up beat tempo.
Sassafrass Roots another song about boredom and wasting time. When I Come Around the only Pop-Punk song on the album and the most sold single by the band. It is played in nearly every single Green Day concert. It also has an awesome bass line. Coming Clean a very short song but it didn't need to be long because it got it's message out in the small amount of time it was on. It copes with teenage Homosexuality and tries to get the message out that your parents are the one to talk to it about. It is also the song that Billie Joe admitted he was bisexual. Emineus Sleepus a strange song on the album and is probably my least favorite but yet still has a good guitar line. In The End I don't know really what this song is about but it is very upbeat and has a good guitar line. F.O.D and All By Myself a song and a hidden one afterwards called All By Myself. It's about hatred for people and the latter about masturbation.
One of my favorite albums and all songs on it are amazing and all have great meaning.

I want to listen to new music so bad...... I have heard all The Beatles discography, 90% of Green Day discography. I'm SO BORED I NEED NEW MUSIC RECCOMENDATIONS ANYONE! I would like to listen to a full album and a pretty good one so anyone? Milk no Indie unless if it's Modest Mouse because Modest Mouse is pretty pwnsome. SMAP I refuse to listen to Tom Waits. So far Dio and White Stripes are sounding good anything else?
