A new little mini series I decided to make. That shows a little comedy and a little debate. I typically will do this targeting up to 3 genres this doesn't mean I am targeting the Genre as a whole more so just a either majority or part of the Genre.
Our topic for today: Originality in the Modern Musician World.
First, I'm gonna target R&B. Why does so many songs in the R&B genre contain the word "shortie" or variations of it such as "shawty"? The first time I heard it I was like "Wut?" then I heard a couple more songs, completely different songs, some by completely different artists that contain "shortie". Mostly used in clubs or referencing Women. The last time I checked short people(No offense to them) were a minority in fact actually kind of rare to come by. So where do all these R&B artists get short women from? What Club are they going to? Where can I find this club? But in all seriousness it gets old, gets old fast. It doesn't combine any creativity to the R&B genre at all like sure it was clever the first time but it got way overused. Anyway moving on.
Second, why can't Rap musicians use their own beats and or music? So in some songs some exact music has been used playing the same backing music or using vocals from the song. The one difference IT ISN'T THE SONG! It's some other Rap musician using completely different lyrics and try and call it his or her own. Some songs have been used such as some Aerosmith songs used by Eminem. Some Queen songs used by Vanilla Ice. Once again these musicians aren't bringing anything new into the music genre by using the same song in a different variant. I could completely understand if it was maybe a cover, a tribute, or a duet. But it's not it's using the masters of a classic song and using their vocals to try and call it their own song. Here's news for you, it's not original and it's not good. Make your own music.
Third and finally, Why can Pop musicians and some even Rock/Pop musicians not use real drum beats?
I commonly find a majority of new modern songs using Drum machines or Drum tracks. This is mainly disappointing because once again nothing original is being brought to the music genre. Maybe sure it's a different song, sure it's got some good vocals, hell it could be a good song. But that same old same old beat just gets old fast and slows music down. My suggestion find a drummer I think it will improve your originality.
My closing statement ends on I find people today more so than ever before that don't really listen to music. Whether this be they're not interested in it or they think it's just too much of the same old same old. I think the music industry needs more originality in itself to keep people in later years to keep coming back for more new music and keep their children interested in new music.
So did you guys like it? Would you like me to do more or no?
Was it too long for your tastes? Not long enough? Different topics maybe?
