AC/DC is one of the most overrated bands of all time. Their music really isn't all that great. This. Up there with BTO, Eagles, Sublime, RHCP, Green Day, Sex Pistols,Aerosmith, and *gulp* Led Zeppelin in their overratedness.

SMAP... BTO, Eagles, the Sex Pistols and Led Zeppelin do not in anyway deserve to be there. Fuck people who say band "whatever" is overrated. "HEY! I think this band sucks so they're automatically overrated!"
Screw you people.

BTO did nothing. At all. Eagles didn't either. Sex Pistols did a bit for the punk scene, but not as much as they're brought out to be, as several punk bands were doing what they were doing. Led Zeppelin was pretty influential but the fact they're put up with Beatles, The Who, Floyd, Sabbath, etc. makes no sense.
And hey, I like Zeppelin, especially IV, but I'm just not a fan for the most part.

Since when are they even considered to be super famous? They're an enjoyable band with some pretty good and well-known songs. I don't know how they can be overrated when they aren't rated really high to begin with. But they are a good band, and just because you say they did nothing doesn't make it true. Uhh.... No... they have been considerably popular and influential. They're a great Country Rock band and just because you say they did nothing doesn't make it true. There one of the first true founding Punk bands in the U.K. and were extremely influential in the development of the sound and contributed greatly to the political aspect of the genre. And that's only with one album. They are an extremely important Punk Rock band. You have to be kidding me. Led Zeppelin were The Beatles of the 70s. All of the members of the band were extremely innovated at what they were doing. They're new style of Hard Rock and Blues-Rock contributed greatly to the development of Heavy Metal. They're influence in Rock music is only trumped by that of The Beatles. Like I said before, "Hey I don't like so and so band so they aren't as good as other people say!" I can't stand that kind of mentality. It's gosh darn arrogant.

BTO: Okay, I undestand that I guess. I've had a few bad experences with a few rabid fans.
Eagles: Really? Can you please tell me who they influenced? And country-rock? Sorry, Lynyrd Skynyrd has them trumped in creating and popularizing that.
Sex Pistols: They contributed to the political aspect, but even then, Ramones, and later, the Hardcore scene did a much more rebelious job of that.

Oops hit reply on accident.
Led Zeppelin: By stealing melodies and riffs from old blues artists? And please, heavy metal was already shaping up fine, and Zeppelin wasn't even that heavy.
And what mentality? I was disproving your mentality. I LIKE Led Zeppelin, I listen to them now and then, but I'm not gonna deny they're overrated.
This is a fun debate. Let's keep this civil and not call each other "arrogant".

Eagles: Really? Can you please tell me who they influenced? And country-rock? Sorry, Lynyrd Skynyrd has them trumped in creating and popularizing that. Skynyrd is Southern Rock. There is a difference. Sure they aren't in the upper echelons, but they're am enjoyable band with some damn great songs like Hotel California, Witchy Woman, Tequila Sunrise, One of These Nights, Life in the Fast Lane, In the City, and Heartache Tonight. While the later Hardcore Punk bands put the rebellious factor much more into motion, the Sex Pistols really started that completely pissed off factor that all of the Hardcore Punk bands took to heart and innovated off of.

Fine you can consider them Southern Rock whatever. The Eagles made a few catchty hits but them ad the rest of the country-rock scene are to rock what Kenny G and smooth jazz are to jazz. They cheapened the music, made it sound old and boring, while not bringing anything creative to the table. The only reason they so many more people got to hear that pissed off factor was because they got on to a major label. Not very "Punk"if you ask me. Their influence does exist, but it probably could've been much greater if another much more pissed off band such as The Damned got that major label. It might've been a few months or even years difference, but it would've happened I'm sure. It's the way the times were.

Led Zeppelin: By stealing melodies and riffs from old blues artists? And please, heavy metal was already shaping up fine, and Zeppelin wasn't even that heavy. Frankly a lot of those so-called stolen riffs or songs are bullshit. And besides Blues artists we're always stealing from other Blues artists. You would see some show, like what that guitar player was doing and incorporated into what you were doing. That's how the Blues worked for a long time. And Zeppelin was about the heaviest thing when they burst out on the scene in '69. Fast, Blues driven, Hard Rock. They were heavier than Blue Cheer, heavier than Iron Butterfly. When they began they had a very new sound. No one had been like that before. As a Heavy Rock band they were one of the artists linking Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, much like Deep Purple and UFO. They aren't overrated. That's the mentality I'm talking about. "I don't like this band that much, so they must be overrated!" Which doesn't make them overrated at all. They got so popular because they were damn innovated and amazing at what they were doing. Just like The Beatles were or just like The Rolling Stones were.

Okay, this is now starting to differ down to opinion so I'm just gonna drop the subject. I see your points of view but I don't wanna go so far off topic with more points to counter,
