Like the idea I proposed in RBOmafia about the PM's sent to either the mod or co mod and then the mod/co mod sends them to their target. That way a form of private communication is allowed.
I think that the Zelda mail system is an interesting idea, and I could see a game using a mechanic like that, but I don't think it should be the norm. As Gary says, it changes the game.
