Yeah I mean after the third series of Spongebob, I thought the film was fine. I actually enjoyed the film, and I'll agree that basically the first three seasons were the best. How many seasons is SpongeBob even up to, now? XD

And I'm sure they'll drag it for a tenth.
After that, they might finally put the poor old guy to rest.

I honestly don't see what you guys mean. Maybe it was because I was so young, but I didn't find the first three seasons funny at all.

Here's my theory. I think part of the reason why many of us don't like later Spongebob as much as the episodes in the first four seasons is because we've gotten older. Nostalgia certainly has an effect on us, because even though there have been some changes in Spongebob over the years, the new stuff certainly isn't terrible, especially if you view it from a kid's standpoint.

True. They're just trying to appeal to today's kids and the humor they experience.

That only applies to the fourth season for me.
There is a noticeable decline, and many adults notice it too. The characters just don't care anymore, they act like complete stereotypes of their former selves. The series now revolves around gross out jokes and plots that make little to no sense (the splinter episode....*shivers*)
It all became noticeable when Hillenburg stepped down.
And while, kids can do a lot worse these days (Johnny Test) it still is far from even a decent show nowadays.

I would still rather watch new Spongebob than a lot of the shit on nowadays. This doesn't mean new Spongebob isn't really bad, because it is. The reason we don't like it anymore is because there are new writers, Hillenburg left. It just doesn't have the same charm anymore, and it relies on peoples skin and faces being ripped off as humor.

^Pretty much this.
I mean, I was still pretty young for seasons 4 and 5 and even back then I noticed a drop in quality.

The only children's shows worth watching are Adventure Time, Regular Show and Amazing World of Gumball, to an extent.
