I also prefer McCartney over Lennon. But in an unbiased manner Lennon did have more impact and influence than McCartney. No way. McCartney sold WAY more album. Impact and Influence =/= Album sales. Has it ever occurred to you that Paul also has a discography at least TWICE the size of Lennon's?

As a technical musician Paul is CERTAINLY more talented than Lennon. I, however, consider John's wordsmithing skill to be superior to McCartney. It is also seems to me that Lennon has had a somewhat larger impact on culture than Paul did, musically and ESPECIALLY generally.
I would also like to say I find this argument more genuine than "Paul is way better"

Why is Billy Joel so high? Same with Elton John, The Clash, Pixies, White Stripes and Frank Zappa? Oh well.... doesn't matter now.

Good night little samuel, Say good night to the puppies, Good night to the cats. You wake up in the morning Surrounded by twats
When you go back to rest, Like a bird in it's nest. Make sure not to fly to high, Or you may overdose and die.
Good Night

This list is way too geared toward 20th Century Rock and Pop.
I don't really like it. Not enough truly important music, and more just popular stuff.
I'll probably do my own.

My arguments.
1.)John and Paul should switch places because John had more inspiration and impact than Paul. John was also more experimental trying some stuff that wasn't exactly popular yet. Like songs like Crippled Inside and I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier Mama. John also tried to get a message through in his music with songs like Imagine trying to communicate global peace. While Paul tried to stick with mainstream Pop/Rock. Also because I'm guessing you are recognizing solo Paul as Paul and Wings. Which you shouldn't be because that isn't true solo Paul.
2.)Michael Jackson should be higher for an obvious amount of reasons. In my opinion he is the second most influencial artist of all time only defeated by The Beatles. He had a ton of hits that broke the charts. He had a very large impact during the 80's and early 90's. He holds the highest selling album of all time defeating even The Beatles. He also provided ground breaking new dance moves never done before. He also tried to communicate a message through his music showing that everybody is equal.
3.)Weezer should be off the list because they aren't very important to music. They didn't bring anything really new to the music world. They didn't have a very hard impact. They haven't had a very large area of influence. They had what 2-3 hits. Nothing's really too impressive about them. Sure they are a great band and I enjoy them but they definitely don't deserve on the list.
