I always feel like I'm the only person on the internet who isn't a big progressive rock/metal nut.
Vektor is a great band though. "Black Future" is one of the greatest thrash albums ever.

Electric Light Orchestra(early albums), Kansas, King Crimson, Styx, Gentle Giant, Genesis, Supertramp. Nothing that hasn't been mentioned. What about Steely Dan's Can't Buy a Thrill?

I wouldn't really consider that progressive rock. On the contrary, Steely Dan considers it progressive rock. Well if they consider it Prog then Straf should go listen to it, because it is a great album.

It's a great album, but I don't see how it's prog. more like jazz-rock.

Jazz-Rock and Jazz Fusion aren't Progressive Rock though. Both can incorporate elements of it which is why they're listed on ProgArchives.

they made songs besides carry on wayward son, renegade, mr. roboto, and come sail away? YOU DARE? Let's see: Lady, Crystal Ball, Lorelei, Fooling Yourself, The Grand Illusion, Blue Collar Man, Too much Time on my Hands, Snowblind, Babe, and that's only their hits.

Styx and Kansas really shouldn't be compared to the Progressive Rock greats at least in my opinion. They have some enjoyable songs sure, but Styx lost a lot of that Prog direction later on. Kansas I would take any day over Styx, but other Progressive bands I believe are miles, and miles ahead of them.
