HISTORY
Once upon a time, Harmonix was a small company, with a small following, just wanting to get into a new type of game, music games. Let people pretend to be rock stars. So they made Guitar Hero, which held a medium fanbase. Later, they sold it to Activision, who made it huge, while they went for quality with Rock Band. The one with the better product, Rock Band, gains a following, and eventually, it's fan base grows large, and they get the real guitar in to the hands of video gamers. They start a forum in the beginning, which is small, but grows in to a large community, uniting people from everywhere, rock band fanboys, guitar hero fans, and people who just don't care. They have an interesting community that grows rather large. In a large community like that, you will ALWAYS have people who just don't like each other. It's just how life works. There's always gonna be people that just annoy you so much, but other people are fine with, and people who you bond with and become close to who may annoy others. Sometimes these relationships are obvious. Other times they are kept inside, and harmony stays with no massive drama. If drama does erupt, a mod will quickly close the thread, and depending on severity, have the people involved in the drama take a short break. Yes, these mods will show favoritism to older members who they have developed a relationship with, but they will still be banned if the situation warrants it, and thusly the RB forums have an almost drama free forum, where interesting discussion takes place, and trolls are ignored or re-trolled, not fed.
Once upon a time, some members of the RB forum were dissatisfied with the way it was run, all they wanted to do was play a game called mafia, but older members would ruin their games, and make them mad. These few people invited a select few to play the next scheduled game on a seperate site. We played through this game, and noticed that we all got along very well. We decided to stick together, and start our own small, private community. We all came from the rock band forums, and thus these people became the Rock Band Outcasts, most often abbreviated to RBO. It all was fun and games. As we still began to get to know each other, we didn't talk too much outside of mafia games. Nearly everything we talked about outside of it was an immature flipping of the bird to the old RB forums that we came from. We continued in this immature fashion for months. Along the way, we played many more mafia games. Members came and went. We lost people like Nick and Icon, but it was inevitable, as they were both adults with lives outside of it. Little did we know that at this time, the guy we decided should design our forum, and that we left in charge, started another site from roblox, known as RMusic, and joined a site called Lavender Syndrome, the board for a very talented band. Later came the first drama. Around the time of a mafia game, as we were stillin our immature phase, the admin came around and trolled the game, then when called out, deleted posts that changed the entire game. This started our very first flame war, where everybody went crazy, and rabid, flaming each other. This was after two other people had came to be mods to help him out with the site. The situation was handled poorly, and created a standard of how to handle drama. Just flame it. It would have been alright for a very small forum, where we could just talk it out, but around this time RMusic was being destroyed from the inside out. We later showed our standards once again with a deja vu incident with a different mod. This prompted the mod to take a long hiatus, which in the end helped him, and made our forum team run better. The mods all did their own thing though, all in a position of power, none wishing to discuss with the others. Then, RMusic came down, and LS members started deciding to join RBO. The forum of around 25 people began to grow exponentially. Everything was fine and dandy, and the first to people to join, member of the band LS, were nice to everyone, friendly, and all around awesome. We welcomed them with open arms, and they became great members of our community. Other members follwed suit, and we were friendly with them. Later, a member with a very different personality showed up. This member spammed the forum, and trolled people, and made them upset. Rather than banning the member for a time right away, and locking threads, the 3 mods (one mod had quit and taken a hiatus after a flame war earlier. Someone else took his place.) let it go on. This left the forum in shambles, and created a bias against new members coming in. From here on out, every bit of drama in the forum would be blamed on the new members joining. This was not aided by another member who joined the forum, a self proclaimed troll who only wanted to cause controversy. He seemed at first to be a great member, but deteriorated, and members hated him. The older troll had just recently been unbanned, and the two of them together made people mad. The first person had improved greatly since his ban, though still not perfect, but who is? The second troll was decided to be banned, and after all the drama, the mods took a harder stance. The old mod was reinstated for his tech abilities, and a secret admin forum was created, where the mods could talk and discuss. To much controversy, a new set of more concrete rules where put up, to be enforced, which made the site better. However, as we saw with the RB forums, when you have a large forum, people are just going to not like each other. People, there will be others on this forum who annoy you greatly. We've seen people outwardly express their dislike for people. We've seen conflict between mod and user, user and user, mod and mod. People, it's time for the hate to stop. If someone annoys you, just ignore them. We can see who doesn't like whom. You don't need to make it obvious by making large flame threads. I decided not to name any names in this post, out of respect, though you can probably figure out who most people are. I don't want to see anything blamed on LS ever again, okay? Love and Tolerance
I'm not taking a hiatus, I'm just cutting back on my time here, kind of like Milk. No need to auction off my job, lol.
