I'm pretty curious to see what RBO thinks of this. I didn't include anything before the 50's, mainly because the album format wasn't developed enough before then, and I didn't include the 2010's because they're not over yet.
Personally, it's a close call between the 70's and the 90's, but I'll go with the 90's in this instance.

2000's. Music is an ever evolving form of art.

I like stuff from all decades. 50's and 60's were a bit under-developed if you ask me. 90's were cool but, you know. Ever-evolving or not, I find a lot of the stuff I've heard from the 00's to be pretty boring, but that's not everything.
So really, I'm torn between 70's and 80's. I like both a lot. :/

The answer is obviously the 70's.

00's. The 60's are also cool, though.

70s. Everyone who votes 00s, ICP and Brokencyde. That is all. ICP was 90's too. And please, every decade has awful music. Do I have to use Cher on you for 70's? Not only has the 2000's had a much greater range of styles than ever before in music, IMO it's overall the best decade.

Recorded as in the quality of the recordings? Or the music itself? If recording Quality I would say 2000's for obvious reasons.

2000's is a close one for me, but I don't like as much bands from that Era compared to the 70's. Plus I feel like the 70's is when music completely evolved.

I do believe Zilla is referring to musical quality, not the audio quality. Could be mistaken.

Not only has the 2000's had a much greater range of styles than ever before in music, IMO it's overall the best decade. too bad no wave and krautrock makes anything in the rock canon obsolete; it predicted everything, with both class and lack of pretensions. /opinion Yes, because CLEARLY the 00's were only just the rock canon. And you need to look around more, the 00's had some great No Wave, its not totally dead.

Not only has the 2000's had a much greater range of styles than ever before in music By that logic of yours then each new decade will be the best. There will surely be more divergence of music in the 10s, so now when it's over will it be the best? Same with the 2020s, 30s, and so on? Range of styles is fine, but I wholeheartedly believe that the peak of music was in the late 60s through the 70s for quality and originality of music. Of course another uptick could always happen, but I don't think the 00s at all can claim to be that. For the most part I think the good music of today went underground. It is not easily accessible, but when you go back a few decades the quality of mainstream music was good, and you had good music that was not mainstream to back it up. You can't say that anymore these days at least in my opinion, hence the peak, at least for the time being, has already occurred.

Yes I am using that logic, because its true? The 10's will end up better, I know it. And perhaps for rock music the 60's and 70's were the peak, but people need to swear off guitars for awhile.
And who cares if good music mostly went underground, its still good, and thanks to the internet is easier to access than ever. And I still find a greater quantity of music I like from the past 12 years than I have in the past years.
