I just gave this album a listen. It was. Different.
Lou Reed's voice does NOT suit this album one bit. The whole album is Lou rambling over Metallica thrashing about in the background.
It was absolutely horrid. I mean I like Lou Reed and Metallica, but this album was just horrible. Metallica obviously didn't decide to take their creativity pills because the instrumentation wasn't great, though I liked the jam in "Mistress Dread". The song was raped by Reed.
Overall, 1/10.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot.

While it's awful, it's better than anything Metallica since Black Album and anything Lou Reed since New York.
And honestly better than a shitload of well-recieved music here.
But it still sucks, just not for most of the reasons people say.

St. Anger isn't as bad as people say, but at its release it was the worst Metallica album. Death Magnetic is a very solid album. If it weren't for the atrocious brickwalled mix, I'd give it a 4/5 as opposed to a 3.5/5. Lulu, on the other hand, is idiotic garbage. I might be harsh on people like Bob Dylan for having awful singing voices, but at least he has good lyrics behind his songs. Lou Reed here not only gives one of the worst vocal performances I've heard in my life, but the lyrics are pathetic, laughable, and do a terrible job of telling the story of Lulu. Not to mention the generic riffs combined with repetitive song structures, it's one of the worst albums I've heard.
