okay I think I've ranted about these guys on IRC before but OH MY GOD. they get negative one million out of ten points because they suck that badly. let's look in more detail!

Singer: The lead singer is really pretty weak. These guys did release something earlier this year where he wasn't quite so bad as their other work, I felt, until the bridge where HE JUST HAD TO SCREAM FOR NO REASON
AND HE CAN'T EVEN DO IT RIGHT AAAAH

which actually brings me to my next point...

Music Videos: I guess every band needs something they can actually do right. For Madsen, that is music videos. I strongly recommend watching the above video on mute because it's really cool! Not all of their videos are awesome and fitting: This one I felt could have been a little darker-

(incidentally, I didn't hate the actual music in this song as much as I hate their other songs)
anyway.

Guitarist: I don't think the guitarist sucks as badly as the other members of the band, but he could be so much more creative and would probably be better off as part of a different (less sucky) act.

Drummer: BORING. AS. SHIT. That is literally all I have to say about Madsen's drummer.

Lyrics: If you understand German, the lyrics are really cool and deep and stuff. God, I wish these guys were better musicians.

Why am I ranting about this? Well you see guys, I'm a German minor and I'm taking a German Culture class right now. Our first unit thingy was about music. Sadly, all we talked about was Madsen. This makes me sad because I KNOW Germany has better music to offer than MADSEN. These guys sum up everything I hate about popular music. Only the shitty acts are known to the world at large (and yes, these guys have played in Athens) and all the good acts are virtual unknowns.

Damn, my dad would be proud of this post (he teaches History of Rock and Roll).

I really didn't think it was that bad... I mean, it wasn't terrific, but it wasn't as horrible as you made it out to be. The drummer really isn't that bad. I've heard waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy worse drummers than this one. His stuff fits and that's is what is important. The guitarist could do a little more work, but I think what he did was acceptable. He was being very safe. The bassist is a bassist. I agree with you on their lead singer, he's not very good.... haha. But again, they aren't really that bad. They're just taking a safe approach to the genre they're playing.
