My band doesn't have enough funds to buy a PA system and we can't borrow our drummer's brother's PA system anymore, so whats the best cheap way to amplify a microphone. Sorry if I come off as a complete retard, but I am very tech-ignorant, and have no idea how things work.

If it's a 1/4 inch cable, just run it through the second channel of the guitar amp.

Sounds like an XLR cable. You could get a XLR to 1/4 inch cable ( like this one), and then plug it into the second channel of the guitar or bass amp. It would definitely be cheap, but I'm not sure how good the quality would be.
