Finally! I've been waiting for a thread like this. I don't believe in guilty pleasures, but I do believe in unpopular opinions. Most of these are just my opinions, and some of them are very unpopular.
Old Lady Gaga was really good, I don't really like her new stuff though.
Old Katy Perry was really bad, but her new stuff is good (well, all the hits are, the other songs are pretty bad; excluding Hummingbird Heartbeat).
The Script is awesome.
Maroon 5 is awesome.
OneRebuplic actually has some pretty good songs.
Adele is probably one of, if not the, greatest female vocalists today. Don't argue, you won't win.
I like the Neon Trees.
The Cab is awesome.
Valencia is awesomer.
Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and B.o.B. are very good rappers.
Dance Gavin Dance is really good.
The Audition have never made a bad album.
I don't care for classic rock.
Blink-182 > Green Day *shot*
+44 was the best baby Blink-182 had.
Andy McMahon is the Ben Folds of pop music.
Plastic Beach is my favorite Gorillaz album.
I enjoy Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco.
New Linkin Park isn't that bad at all.
SOAD is awesome.
Best Jimmy Eat World album is Futures.
Rust in Peace > Peace Sells
Death Cab for Cutie is overrated.
This Is War is the best 30 Seconds to Mars album.

I find Weezer extremely overrated The Blue Album and Pinkerton are awesome. Maladroit and Green are meh. The rest suck. *shot by SMAP* Except that's actually true, even though Red and Hurley I wouldn't say suck either. Will post mine after I list the ones I agree with. |

From Toki's first post I agree with:
I find Radiohead and Weezer extremely overrated (only by the hardcore fans of both, since they're both some of my favorite bands)
The Beatles are one of the most overrated bands of all time(they're really good though)
Pink Floyd is overrated (but also very good)

RHCP are one of the most overrated and obnoxious artists I've ever heard, and it blows my mind people like them.
Same with The Eagles.
Dream Theater isn't all that great at all.
Noise is music and is incredibly fun to listen to, open your minds.
I am getting incredibly tired of Rock, Pop, and Metal in general and wish people would be more into weirder shit like me.
Mainstream top 40 pop, whilst being mostly horrible, is way better than your favorite horrid scene/pop punk/nu metal/metalcore groups.
Any band that achieves enough popularity, probably is overrated by someone, whether or not they are actually good.
Most modern mainstream metal IS awful and the underground groups aren't full of laughable angst.
If you're focusing solely on lyrics and catchiness you're musicing wrong.
All the popular rock music from the mid-50's to mid-90's is getting tired and old by the average person.
2000's was the best decade in music so far.
People who believe modern music is crap know the least about music.

Some responses to the big posts I made this on Lavender Syndrome but I mine as well see what this forum has to say too. Just post opinions you have of certain bands or musical groups that people normally wouldn't agree with.

Chinese Democracy is a great album
Avenged Sevenfold are good
Disturbed, Slipknot, Linkin Park and most Nu-Metal bands don't nearly deserve all the hate they get
Master of Puppets is Metallica's worst album
St. Anger and Risk by Metallica and Megadeth aren't bad at all
Reign in Blood is one of the worst Slayer albums
Pink Floyd is overrated (but also very good) Meh Pre Kid A is good. Blue Album and Pinkerton are best Weezer. I'll agree actually they still are my favorite band though. Nah I haven't listened to all of the tracks but based on Shackler's Revenge and track listing it almost sounds like Nickelback not musically but lyrically. Disturbed is pretty good. Slipknot is meh. Linkin Park is boss. I haven't listened to a wide enough range of Metallica to have a complete opinion but I'll say nah. I only know Peace Sells so no opinion on Megadeth. Don't like Slayer so. The Wall is overrated. Love Dark Side though. Here's some of mine.

That's all I can think of atm They're okay. City of Evil is meh but Self Titled album is really beast. I respect her enough to nod when her music is played and when someone likes her but no I don't really like her. There's nothing wrong with her music it's just not my style. B.o.B. sure Kanye and Lupe no. Don't know them. Don't know them either. WHAT?!?!? Billy Joel, Elton John, The Beatles, Def Leppard, The Stones, The Who. You don't like any of it? Musically Yes. Instrumentally no. Definitely over AvA I prefer Box Car Racer though. Have no clue who that is. Only heard 2 songs by the Gorillaz so no opinion. I enjoy Fall Out Boy, Panic not so much. It isn't bad but their older stuff was wayyyyyy better. SoaD is okay. YES! Don't know Megadeth that well. I don't know if you can call Indie overrated. A Beautiful Lie is 10x better. My own stuff. Dude Ranch is Blink-182's best album personally musically I give it to self titled. The White Album and Sgt.Pepper are The Beatles best albums. American Idiot is Green Day's best album. Meteora is better than Hybrid Theory. Under The Bridge is RHCP's best song followed by Otherside. More later. |
