Damn, I seriously forgot how good the first three seasons of Spongebob (and the movie) are.
Shame they couldn't have just ended with the movie.

So anyone remember that movie Gladiator with Russel Crowe? It was pretty good. Apparently a sequel was originally penned, and the producers hired none other than Nick Cave to write the sequel. Anything that Nick Caves does is brilliant after all. The script goes a little something like this.
I'm not gonna lie. I would pay to see that. I'm sure the movie score would contain plenty of Cave, making it even better.

Spongebob became really derivative and predictable after the movie. It's like, how can you drop so low with that a show that originally had such bubbling potential?

Shame they couldn't have just ended with the movie. Every episode between 1999 and 2004 was brilliant. I don't know how many season there were between those years though. I was never that big on the movie. Alright, so recently I saw Shaun of the Dead.. to my surprise, it didn't *completely* suck. It actually sorta lives up to the hype. It manages to be a legit oldschool-feeling zombie film and a good comedy at the same time--most movies can't even get just the latter one right! Like most comedies it gets old once you know all the gags, but hey.
Expect more. I think it's a good zombie flick. I generally enjoy Simon Pegg's films.

I heard a rumor before that the producers and writers of the show had planned to end it after the movie and had a dignified end to the series, but the bigwigs at Viacom wouldn't let it happen and everyone on the staff tried to intentionally make the show bad afterwards to try and get it off the air. However, it's just a rumor, but you know... Maybe...

Some scenes are also really gruesome, such as the infamous Toenail one.

Some scenes are also really gruesome, such as the infamous Toenail one. It's not that bad, though I'm sure it could frighten little kids a bit.. Still, there's been worse. Take for example the Ren and Stimpy episode "Magical Singing Golden Cheeses"; Stimpy gets a crowbar and goes mad on someone's toe. Not only did the toenail get ripped off, puss came out of it too. Even then, Ren and Stimpy was entertaining; new Spongebob works off inane jokes or stuff that attempts to rehash the older episodes but lacks the dynamics that worked off the old episodes. Also, the rumor seems believable in some ways I guess, but after years of putting out this disposable shit, wouldn't they at least try to make some sort of a revival to the show? At least something that redeems people hoping for the show to get better, but I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen..

Everyone needs to stop what they're doing right now and watch A Bridge Too Far. That movie probably has the best cast ever: Dirk Bogarde, James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Edward Fox, Elliott Gould, Anthony Hopkins, Gene Hackman, Hardy Krüger, Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford and Maximilian Schell. It's probably the definitive WWII movie too. That or Patton.
Also... How 'bout that Walking Dead last night?

I'm guessing Hershel will be one. I've never watched it but it does look really cool. I'll check to see if it's on Netflix.
